I've seen people talk about these for a while now, and Maybelline very kindly sent me four of them to try out. Here in Singapore they are called 'Lip Polishes', but i know that in the US they are called the 'Colour Elixirs'. These are basically meant to have the pigmentation of a lipstick, be glossy and moisturising and quite frankly, they're all three. These also last a really long time, and i'm honestly really impressed with them! The pigmentation varies from the different shades, but i don't really mind this as i like to have a sheer lip aswell as a bold one. These aren't sticky at all and still look really glossy on the lip. It does have a bit of an odd brush, but it actually helps for a more precise look.. So let's get to the shades!
The Maybelline Lip Polishes come in a total of 10 shades here in Singapore, ranging from nudes to brights, and the four i received were a bit of everything!
Maybelline Lip Polish in Pop 5*
The first shade is called Pop 5 (i'm not quite sure the name of from the US version, sorry!) and is a really pretty light pink colour. It also looks gorgeous over Chatterbox by MAC, or any light pink lipstick. This is probably my favourite of the bunch and I think this is going to be such a beautiful shade for the summer. This one is quite buildable, although i like keeping it quite sheer.
Maybelline Lip Polish in Glam 14*
Glam 14 is a shade i never normally go for. It is a brown toned nude, and i think it would look lovely on darker skin, but i just don't think it looks so good on me. It just doesn't really work for me, and haven't found it to work on top of a lip colour either.
Maybelline Lip Polish in Glam 1 / Breathtaking Apricot*
This next one however, is another one of my favourites. Breathtaking Apricot is a gorgeous nude coral, that has shimmers running through it. Although this doesn't come off quite as how it looks in the tube, it gives a really pretty sheer wash of colour, and perfect for those who are less daring.
Maybelline Lip Polish in Pop 6 / Signature Scarlet*
As you can probably tell from the swatch, this is the most pigmented of the bunch i received. Signature Scarlet is a really pretty bright red colour, and reminds me quite a lot of the Rimmel Apocolips in Big Bang.
Overall i really love these lip polishes, and would highly recommend them to anyone, whether you are looking for a pretty nude or a bright red. These retail for S$19.90 in Guardian, Watsons & Sasa here in Singapore, and right now there are on sale for only S$16! These aren't available in the UK yet, but keep your eyes peeled for when they do!
